Aloha, I’m Katy.

I’m a Maui-based elopement, wedding, and portrait photographer. My work encompasses an editorial approach that balances artful composition and real moments. My goal is to create images that feel elevated, vibrant, and uniquely yours.

The STORIES THAT I’m honored to capture

I’ve been photographing weddings and portraits on Maui since 2017. I feel lucky to call the lush Maui North Shore home along with my partner and our rescue pets. I approach every session with intention, blending editorial composition with genuine, unscripted moments that tell your story.

My photography perspective is shaped by my work as a hospice nurse, where I’ve learned the profound value of presence, connection, and the memories that we carry. This informs how I photograph, bringing care, attention, and respect to the fleeting beauty of each moment. I carefully select the weddings and sessions I take on to ensure every story receives the time, focus, and creativity it deserves. HOW it all started

I discovered a passion for photography as a creative outlet from my demanding nursing career and I started exploring photography through a variety of online courses.

In 2016, I embarked on a “365 project”, committing to capture and edit at least one photo every day for a year. This was a practice that strengthened my skills and deepened my love for visual storytelling.

While living in the San Francisco Bay Area and working through my 365 project, I started taking on photography clients. I focused on family, maternity, and pet photography.

Maui becomes home

In 2017, I moved to Maui sight unseen, drawn to the warm ocean and lush landscapes. I established Kathryn Haldiman Photography as an official business.

In 2018, I photographed my first wedding in Upcountry Maui, beginning a journey capturing love stories across the island.

Today, I’ve captured over 200 weddings and elopements, along with countless couples, family, and portrait sessions across Maui. I continue to take a variety of photography continuing education to refine my craft and foster my creativity.
