Places to Eat in Maui, Hawaii | The Up-Country Farmer's Market

My clients often ask me for food and restaurant recommendations in Maui, and as a foodie, I love pointing people in the direction of my favorite places to find grinds (food).  If your Maui vacation falls on a Saturday morning, I highly recommend a visit to the Up-Country Farmer's Market in Pukalani.  Here you will find numerous vendors selling local, and often organic, fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey, and baked goods.  You will also find a variety of prepared foods and drinks, including fresh coconuts, local Maui coffee, sugar cane juice, kombucha, goat ice cream, acai bowls, fish, Thai food, Indian food, omelets, and much, much more!

Maui Cones is one of my favorite prepared food vendors at the market.  They serve several traditional Hawaiian dishes, including poke (a raw fish delicacy) and lau lau (steamed pork wrapped in taro leaf). I also enjoy the omelets and fresh juices served by Katie's Kitchen Gourmet (look for the sign that says "Local Organic Breakfast").  Don't forget to pick up some fresh pressed sugar cane juice to go with your breakfast/lunch!

The market is open from 7am -11am on Saturday mornings.  It can get "chilly" in the morning in Pukalani if you are visiting in the winter, so bring a sweater.  There isn't any formal space to sit down and enjoy your meal at the market, but you can sit on the curb and enjoy the various musicians that provide entertainment.  I hope to see you there!
